Homelessness is a big issue, but working together we can make a huge difference.

70 children in our Bristol, TN and Bristol, VA city schools are homeless.

One of the biggest issues facing our community right now is the number of homeless families with children that are living in their cars, tents or other places that are unfit for human habitation. United Way of Bristol is working with local community leaders, health and human service agencies, churches and others to implement a Family Promise program for our community. This program provides food, shelter and support services for homeless families and helps them achieve sustainable independence.

29% of our region’s homeless are employed. Homelessness does not discriminate – people of every age, gender, faith, and socio-economic background can become homeless.
